The commercial manager will have responsibility for a portfolio of products under the general description of Global or Traditional.
Key responsibilities will include the following:
• Develop Key strategies for product areas within the portfolio. These initiatives should support the business vision and deliver the site commercial strategy.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with key customer contacts. Become a recognised expert in our key markets.
• Build and maintain strong internal relationships. Influence Operational, Procurement and Technical colleagues to support initiatives to improve product margins.
• Develop and maintain commercial data systems to provide accurate and timely commercial data to the business.
• Support the site development through delivering profitable sales growth.
On a day to day basis, the commercial manager will act as a key point of contact for the customer. Maintaining a positive customer-supplier relationship.
This will include the following:
• Daily communication with key contacts by telephone or e-mail. Regular (weekly) site visits by key customer contacts.
• Tracking sales. Provide accurate, timely information to the site management team and the customer.
• Develop a rolling promotional plan in agreement with the customer. Agree promotions in line with the commercial strategy to deliver targeted, profitable returns to both businesses. Monitor promotional performance and provide feedback on site.
• Co-ordinate communication between the business and client the event of service level issues, quality issues etc.
• Agree prices and commercial data to support all new products. Carry out further commercial negotiations, as required, to maintain site margin targets.

Essential
• Account management/ Commercial experience.
• Minimum 3 years management experience in a customer facing role.
• Education to degree level or equivalent.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Numerate.
• Competent with financial data, P&L, costing etc.
• Strong data systems knowledge.
• Demonstrable interest and knowledge of food trends and the food market.
• Ability to influence others to support you in achieving personal and business goals.
